Technology for Knitwear Design

Technology is changing the retail industry, including how we design knitwear here at DirecTEX.

In 2018, DirecTEX implemented three new, digital tools to improve efficiency and reduce waste. Specifically:

Speed to market is crucial in the knitwear fashion industry, and we are always looking for ways to get our products to the market faster without compromising on quality.

Pollution and sustainability are urgent issues in the fashion industry.  Consumers are demanding cleaner products from more transparent companies.  We are examining every part of our business at DirecTEX to improve in these areas.

2. Quip

File Sharing and Communication

Quip is a greatly reduces paper and time waste in the DirecTEX office.  We primarily use Quip for sharing and creating word, excel and PowerPoint documents and communicating easily between team members.   With Quip, the number of emails we send and meetings we old has dropped.

3. Infor Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)

For Knitwear Development Efficiency

Infor PLM software leverages our knitwear design and development data to foster better decision making and increase speed to market. The investment in PLM for us was about moving to more online design and development from a more manual system.  Importantly, the PLM gives us the ability to create and maintain a knitwear library for efficiency and ease of future designing.
